Planning is the key to crack FMGE. This exam tests your capability to remember strange facts and numbers, and a little bit of clinical medicine. This is your first step towards a great life ahead. Once you qualify for your exam, you are able to practice in India as a registered practitioner.

When you are aware that you have only 1 month left for your exam, there’s no need to panic. Instead, be very particular about your preparation. When the goal is set, nothing can stop you from achieving it.

At the very first hand, have a keen knowledge of scheme of the examination. It is very important to be aware of the pattern, syllabus, and all small things about the exam that you have to attempt.

FMGE EXAM PATTERN:

  • Mode of examination: Like all other exams, the FMGE will also be conducted through online mode. You will be allowed to sit in front of a computer and attempt your paper online within a fixed interval of time.

  • Time duration: For attempting the exam, a particular time slot is decided. The exam will be conducted for a total duration of 2 hours & 30 minutes. Within this duration, the candidates have to attempt the question paper in one go.

  • Types of questions: Multiple choice questions is the pattern of the exam and answers having multiple choices will be asked. The questions with 4 answer options will be there, out of which you will have to select the correct one and mark it.

  • Attempt limit: There are no limitations of attempting questions in the examination. You can even attempt all questions asked in the exam, it all depends on your knowledge.

  • The number of questions: The question paper will comprise of total 300 questions. All these questions are not compulsory to attempt. You can attempt those questions about whom you are pretty sure and if you are not willing to attempt any question, you are not forced to.

  • Language: The medium of the question paper will be in the English language only.

  • Negative marking: There will be NO NEGATIVE MARKING in the exam. This is the plus point of this exam. If you attempt any question whose answer you are not sure about, you don’t need to panic as if you won’t score a mark, then your no extra mark will be deducted on attempting that question.

Plan your preparation according to this pattern.

  • As the exam mode is online, try studying on a table & chair. This will help you to practice sitting for a long period of time and while attempting exam you won’t panic sitting for a long duration at one place and you will develop a habit of sitting as in the examination hall.
  • Try practicing more MCQs. Either, solve subject-wise MCQs or go for the previous year’s question papers. This will help you in attempting your exam. Join any coaching institute online like FMGE SOLUTIONS INSTITUTE so that while attempting any mock test or test series, you feel like you are attempting your final exam.
  • As there is no negative marking in the exam, this is the plus point of this exam. You can attempt as many questions as you want without giving a second thought. If you will not score for a particular question, you won’t even lose an extra mark for attempting it.

When you know you have very little time left for the exam and have to cover this syllabus in almost 30 days which means in 1 month, choose to study wisely.

You can choose to either:

  1. Prospectively read your study material first and then do MCQ’s as review, or
  2. Retrospectively try solving MCQs first and then read the study material.

4-WEEKS PLAN

  • FIRST WEEK PLAN-

There might be the hype of tensions in your mind. Just by keeping all of them aside, try to learn or read out the content you are having of every subject. Try to study daily and complete reading within 7 days.

In the first week, study all the notes, all the study material you are having of all subjects wisely.

  • SECOND WEEK PLAN-

Try to recall your concepts. Make sure all your new and old concepts are clear either by differentiating them from each other.

All your mnemonics, tables, flowcharts should be on your tips so that you can solve any type of question. Focus mainly on these in the second week and get yourself exam-ready.

  • THIRD WEEK PLAN-

Strengthen your pre-clinical subjects. Once your pre-clinical are covered, go for clinical ones. Make yourself capable of discriminating between important and unimportant topics.

Go through the diagrammatic representations thoroughly, videos explaining the procedures, so that no doubt is left in your mind.

  • Fourth-week plan-

The final phase is the turning point. Try solving MCQs as much as you can of all subjects. All the MCQs are twisted, contrived, and hard to comprehend.

Till now in the earlier weeks, you have just gone through the subjects and now it is the time to access yourself. And this can be done by solving MCQs only.

Solving and attempting questions makes your concepts more stronger and you are able to differentiate between the differential diagnosis of any disease.

The thing that actually goes with the planning is organization. Just organize your study on the basis of the time you are left with:

  1. There are 19 subjects to read, which means you need to give optimal time for all subjects and do not dwell on one subject only till the last day of the exam.
  2. Practice MCQs as much as you can. Either use subject-wise books for practicing them or use previous year papers to solve daily.
  3. Always try to study from handwritten notes as they are easier to understand and learn.
  4. Always enroll yourself for online grand test series from the coaching center (like FMGE SOLUTIONS INSTITUTE). Use the grand tests to access your progress.
  5. Revise your material wisely. Thoroughly go through the eponyms, mnemonics, flowcharts, tables.
  6. Stay healthy by-
    • taking regular meals
    • Good sleep
    • Meditation
    • Exercise
    • Regular interaction with positive people in life.
