After studying MBBS in countries (like China, Russia, etc.) other than China, the student has to attend an exam in India known as FMGE-Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, which is conducted by Medical Council of India-twice every year. In June and in December.
The exam consists of 300 multiple choice questions carrying 1 mark each, conducted in two sessions part-1 and part-2, 150 marks each, with no negative scoring respectively. The student is declared qualified if they obtain a minimum of 150 marks out of 300.
The results are announced within 1 month after the exam.
The exam usually starts at 10:30 and ends at 12’o clock for the morning sessions. The reporting time is 9’o clock and 2’o clock for the morning and afternoon session respectively.
The exam covers all 19 subjects. They are divided into pre-clinical and clinical.
Pre and Para-Clinical Subjects:
- Forensic medicine
- General surgery
- Gynecology and Obstetrics
- Community medicine

After Qualifying FMGE?
The results are displayed on the National Board of Examination website. The students who have qualified FMGE gets a notification from NBE i.e., National Board of Examination allotting sessions for collection of their pass certificate. The students must report at NBE in the allotted time.
Then the student must apply for temporary or permanent registration in respective state medical counsel whether or not they have finished their internship. [link]
